Karen A. Rodrigue, Appointed Court Commissioner
Superior Court of California,
County of Alameda
The Judges of the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda, have appointed Karen A. Rodrigue, as a Superior Court Commissioner. She will take the Oath of Office on or about January 5, 2001, and will assume her new duties immediately thereafter.
Commissioner Rodrigue’s assignment for 2001 has not yet been determined. Court Commissioners may be assigned to any court location and to any area including but not limited to Civil, Small Claims, Traffic, Criminal, Probate, Family Law, Child Support, Juvenile, or Mental Health.
Commissioner Rodrigue stated that “I have always viewed the legal profession and the justice system as an opportunity to fulfill my commitment to public service. The judges have honored me with this opportunity, and I look forward to serving the public and the bench in my new role as a commissioner. In my career as an attorney, I came to realize that the judges of Alameda County have the highest regard for ethics, fairness and faithfulness to the law. I am thrilled to now be a part of this fine group of men and women.”
Prior to her appointment as Superior Court Commissioner, Karen Rodrigue held the position of Supervising Trial Attorney, from 1996, in the City Attorney’s Office for the City of Oakland. She began working for the City Attorney’s Office in 1987, as a law clerk during her second year of law school, and held the position of Deputy City Attorney in the Litigation Division, a position she held from 1988 until 1996.
Commissioner Rodrigue graduated from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California and received her Juris Doctorate degree in 1988. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from Golden Gate University in 1985.
Commissioner Rodrigue is highly respected in the legal community for her intellect, professionalism and commitment to the administration of justice. She is a member of the Alameda County Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association for the Northern District of California. She participated in the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse Interagency Committee, served as a SETL Commissioner for Alameda County Superior Court, and as a Judge Pro Tem for the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda in small claims and other civil matters.
