Pretrial Release Program

Program Objectives

The Alameda Superior Court Pretrial Release Program is committed to promoting fairness, equity, and public safety by ensuring that every individual who is facing criminal charges has an equal opportunity for pretrial release and has access to the services and resources they need while awaiting trial in the community. We provide alternatives to cash bail and pretrial detention that are tailored to individual needs and risk factors with the goal of reducing rearrests, failures to appear, and further system involvement.

Through partnerships with community-based organizations and justice system partners, we provide individuals with the support and resources they need to successfully navigate the pretrial process, return to court, and avoid rearrest.  Together, we are driving innovative reform, strengthening our communities, and building a more equitable and effective pretrial release process.

Program Eligibility

Individuals who have one or more pending criminal cases in Alameda County are eligible for Pretrial Services. Levels of intervention are tailored to individual needs and risk factors and vary based on court orders, risk assessments, and supportive service needs.
