Photo Red Light Citation

What Is a Photo Red Light Citation?

Photo Red light citations are issued only in the City of Fremont at this time. In this area, digital photos are taken that include the driver of the vehicle, the vehicle passing through the red light, and the back license plate. From the license number, the registered owner information is obtained. You will receive, from the City of Fremont's contracted vendor Redflex, a photo notice in the mail with instructions on how to proceed. You will also receive a courtesy notice from the Superior Court advising you how to take care of the citation.

If you were the driver of the vehicle and wish to pay the citation or attend, if eligible, Traffic School, follow the instructions on your notice and forward payment to the Superior Court in the enclosed envelope.

What Do I Do if I Want to Contest the Citation?

If you were the driver and wish to contest the citation, follow the instructions on the notice.

If you were not the driver of the vehicle, complete the "Identify Driver" portion of your photo notice and forward to Redflex at the address indicated. If you wish to view the photographs, contact the Fremont Police Department at (510) 790-6800 to make arrangements.
