COURTS DESIGNATE "ADOPTION DAY" TO EXPEDITE ADOPTIONS

WHO: Nearly 80 adoptive children (all ages) and prospective adoptive parents, Alameda County Judges, Social Workers, attorneys, court staffers and private adoption agency representatives

WHAT: "Adoption Day" - Saturday, November 16, 2002. -Adoptions for almost 80 foster children and their prospective parents will be finalized. Judges, social workers, attorneys, court personnel and private adoption agency representatives will volunteer their services for the day to expedite the hearings. The third annual "Adoption Day" is collaboration between the Alameda County Department of Social Services Adoptions Program and the Juvenile Courts of Alameda County. In recognition of the event, Philanthropic Ventures, Inc. and Soroptomists International will provide refreshments and gifts for adoptees. Activities by MOCHA (Museum of Children's Art) and entertainment for the children and their families will also be provided. Reporters are welcome to talk to consenting families about their adoption experiences.
